note: Interesting promo. The first
version of this promo that appeared in local
newspapers touted an NWA title match with
Jack Brisco defending against Blackjack
Mulligan. Only thing was, Brisco wasn't
world champion; Terry Funk was. So who
knows? Anyway, The following promo appeared
in local papers the night of the card.
Mark
Eastridge: I
believe this time frame was when Rufus and
Blackjack were having their feud because
Blackjack had beaten up Rufus'
"nephew", Burrhead, in a
television match. Note: Greg
Valentine's first Greensboro appearance.

Note: Notice Flair won his match over
Wahoo McDaniel with the assistance of Bolo
Mongol. This would set up the famous hair
vs. loser-leaves-town match between Wahoo
and Bolo later that month in Greensboro.

Eastridge: Wahoo defeated Bolo Mongol and
cut off his topknot. Bolo had to leave
town. A couple of weeks later, Malenko
then brings in his newest wrestler, a former
Olympian from "parts unknown", the
Masked Superstar. What a great angle
to change a wrestler's character! (Bolo and
the Masked Superstar were both wrestler Bill
Eadie.)

Eastridge: The night of the title changes.
All three titles changed hands on this card.
Flair, Jones, & Woods became the new
champions! One of my favorite characters on
the lower card is Two Ton Harris. Everytime
he would get his opponent in a headlock, he
would yell to the crowd, "I got him
now!".
Audio coming soon!

Eastridge: The family feud begins!!!
I'll always remember Ole's TV interviews
where he referees to Flair & G.
Valentine as a couple of young punks who
showed no respect, and he would make
reference to Johnny Valentine as Mr.
Valentine. This had to be the
beginning of one of the best feuds of the
year! Also, on this card is the first
Greensboro appearance of the (former Bolo
Mongol) Masked Superstar.
