Champion
Funk held the NWA title for the
entire year of 1971 and faced much the entire roster of
main event talent in cities all over the Carolinas and
Virginia. His most persistent challenger was Johnny Weaver,
and Funk and Junior even enlisted young brother Terry to go
after a bounty placed on Weaver by the champ's father, Dory
Funk Sr. |
