MID-ATLANTIC HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP BELT | CHAMPION | TITLE HISTORY MID-ATLANTIC HERITAGE TITLE WEBSITE The Mid-Atlantic Heritage Title Belt The Mid-Atlantic Heritage title belt, crafted by Dave Millican, was designed true to the original design of the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship defended between 1977 and 1985. Of the four different belts that represented the Mid-Atlantic title, it is the one most associated with the championship. The original belt was not plated. The features on the main plate of the original belt were painted, including the states being painted alternating blue and red. By contrast, the Heritage belt is plated in gold. The background was painted white like the original belt, but the features were left unpainted, which gives them a consistent look as opposed to the original title belt. The Heritage title was the idea of the Mid-Atlantic Gateway and is intended to celebrate and recognize the wrestlers, promoters, and fans of the old Mid-Atlantic territory promoted by Jim Crockett Promotions. It is only contested by wrestlers who were active in the ring from the 1960s-1980s and who worked at one time or another for Jim Crockett Promotions. It is recognized by the EWA as well as other organizations. © Mid-Atlantic Gateway
