Original Crockett Turnbuckle Covers

Original Turnbuckle Covers

For the diehard fans, these were actual turnbuckle covers from an old Crockett ring they were doing away with. When Ricky Steamboat’s brother started wrestling and was being trained, Ricky had Ben Alexander build a ring in his back yard. Ben got a bunch of old pieces from this old rusted, termite infested ring, and built a ring to train Vic Steamboat in. And these are the turnbuckle covers from that ring, that came from an original Crockett ring. They originally had Mid-Atlantic logo patches on them, but somebody else tore those off. There were others that had the Wide World emblem on them, I actually saw some of those at Wally Dusek’s house.

The above was transcribed from discussions Dick Bourne and David Chappell had with George as he took us on a tour around his wrestling room at his home in Concord, NC., August 20, 2003.
