Arena Chairs

Mid-South Coliseum, Greensboro Coliseum, Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium

RETURN TO MUSEUM INDEX

This is a collection of some of the chairs that I have.

This one on the left is from the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis , TN. A lot of the guys autographed it for me, Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Boogie Man Jim my Valiant, Buddy Landel , the Rock & Roll Express. Just to have all those guys sign it is special, I got lucky.

The one in the center is my favorite, or at least one of my favorites, it’s from the Greensboro Coliseum. We were there doing a big youth rally at the Coliseum, and this was actually, sad is this is to say, sitting outside in a smoking area for the janitors. They had just redone the whole coliseum with new seats, and had destroyed most of the old seats and chairs, and this guy was sitting out back smoking a cigarette on this thing. I talked my head off, and got the coliseum manager down there, and finally talked him into giving this to me. It’s one of the original chairs from the original coliseum (before it was expanded and refurbished.)

This one on the right I just recently got from the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, I have the tag you made me with the Spartanburg logo. This was neat because it was one of the original ringside seats, and I had to talk their assistant manager out of a couple of chairs.

I don’t let my kids sit in these! But it’s neat to have these from those famous buildings, and all that’s missing would be one from the old Charlotte Coliseum and the Park Center .
